BACKGROUND

Rachel’s Concert Performance Journey begins at the age of 6 through countless competitions and reaches fame at 11-year-old. Altogether, she won 23 trophies (top three prizes) over a period of three years. Rachel Tan was the winner of Universal Teen Queen-Charity Pageant in Singapore. Rachel’s outstanding performance was her ability to sing four different languages, a combination of 18-best songs, mainly English & Chinese, others are specialized Teochew and Malay song.

Besides beauty and talent, she has consistently contributed her time singing (Charity Projects) for the underprivileged young, Home for elderly, and the sick.

In its 52-year history, only Eight Asians have won the Miss Universe beauty pageant, which is currently owned by American tycoon DONALD TRUMP and the country’s TV network National Broadcasting Company (NBC). Guess who ? She was not exactly a traditional beauty in her country but more of an exotic or so call modern-type of the FUTURE………….

WINNER OF THE MISS UNIVERSE
2007: As winner of the Miss Universe 2007 pageant, Miss Japan Riyo Mori gets an apartment in New York which she may use for one year, an undisclosed salary, a complete wardrobe including a luxury watch and a two-year scholarship to study film in New York. Now 20-year-old, 1.72m-tall dancer, who has brown eyes and lustrous brown hair, has a stunning figure which she showed off in an animal-print bikini. She went on to score the highest in the swimsuit competition.

2000: Lara Dutta, India.; Dutta, now 29, went on to carve an acting career, making her film debut in 2003 with the Bollywood movie Andaaz, which won a prestigious Filmfare movie award.

1998: Porntip Nakhirunkanok, Thailand; The American-born beauty was 34 when she returned to Bangkok in 2002 to marry American billionaire Herb Simon, then 57. She has become known for her charity work.

1994: Sushmita Sen, India; Sen, now 31, narrowly beat Aishwarya Rai to win the Miss India contest in 1994 and enter the Miss Universe pageant. She later became an actress. In 2000, she adopted a baby girl as a single mother.

1973: Margarita Moran, the Philippines; Moran, now 55, was also named Miss Photogenic when she was crowned Miss Universe. She married a Congressman and settled in the Davao region to manage a resort.

1969: Gloria Diaz, the Philippines; Diaz reportedly shone with her answer when she was asked how to welcome the first men who had landed on the moon in 1969. Now 56, she is an award-winning TV and film actress.

1965: Apasra Hongsakula, Thailand; Now 59, Hongsakula won despite being only 1.62m tall and married a first cousin of Thailand’s Queen Sirikit.

1959: Akiko Kojima, Japan; The first Miss Universe from Asia was a model with a curvaceous 37-23-38-inch figure. Now 70, she settled down to a quiet life after marriage.
